Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has emerged as the winner of the presidential election in Niger State, located in North-central Nigeria. He secured a total of 375,183 votes, defeating his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who came second in the state.
Announcing the result, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation officer for the presidential election in Niger, Clement Alawa, confirmed that Tinubu received 375,183 votes, while Atiku polled 284,898 votes. Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) came third with 80,452 votes, while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) took fourth place with 21,836 votes.
Tinubu’s victory was particularly pronounced in the Borgu Local Government Area, where he holds the traditional title of Jagaban Borgu. He secured a landslide win with 22,491 votes, far ahead of his PDP rival, who received only 9,649 votes in the same local government area.
Niger State had a total of 2,667,886 registered voters, out of which 827,416 were accredited for the presidential election. The election recorded a total of 813,355 votes cast, out of which 34,687 votes were rejected. The valid votes were 778,668.
