Tragic Road Crash Claims 25 Lives in Kano-Zaria Road Accident

A devastating road accident at the Dangwaro Flyover along the busy Kano-Zaria Road has left 25 people dead and 53 others injured, plunging communities in Kano and Kaduna states into mourning.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Sector Command, confirmed the incident, which occurred early on Monday morning. A trailer, reportedly carrying 90 passengers, lost control due to overspeeding and crashed, resulting in the tragic loss of lives and injuries.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that the probable cause of the crash was due to overspeeding and loss of control by the trailer driver,” said Ibrahim Abdullahi, Sector Commander of FRSC in Kano.

Emergency response teams, including the FRSC and Nigeria Police Force, swiftly mobilized to the scene to rescue survivors and provide medical assistance. Victims were rushed to the Murtala Specialist Hospital in Kano for urgent treatment.

Among the items recovered from the accident site were six motorcycles, 10 mobile phones, livestock, maize, and cash, all of which have been handed over to the police as part of ongoing investigations.

Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, Abdullahi urged drivers and commuters to strictly adhere to traffic regulations to avert such tragedies on Nigerian roads.

The incident underscores ongoing challenges with road safety in Nigeria and highlights the urgent need for enhanced enforcement of traffic laws to protect lives and prevent accidents.
