Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday announced a major shake-up in his government, relieving several key cabinet ministers of their positions.

The move, which comes amid mounting pressure on the government to address the country’s security challenges, saw the removal of the Ministers of Defence, Interior, Justice, and Foreign Affairs.

According to a statement by the Presidency, the reshuffle is aimed at reinvigorating the administration and ensuring that it delivers on its promises to Nigerians.

The new Ministers announced by President Buhari include Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (retd.) as Minister of Defence, Abubakar Malami (SAN) as Minister of Justice, and Geoffrey Onyeama as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The statement also announced the appointment of Dr. George Akume as Minister of Interior.

Reacting to the news, many Nigerians expressed hope that the new appointments would bring about positive changes in the country, particularly in the area of security.

President Buhari, who has been criticized for his handling of the security situation in the country, has promised to take decisive action to tackle the problem.

The appointment of Major General Magashi as Minister of Defence, in particular, has been seen as a strong signal of the President’s commitment to improving security in the country.

However, some Nigerians have criticized the reshuffle, arguing that it does not go far enough in addressing the country’s challenges. They have called for a more radical overhaul of the government, including the removal of some of the President’s closest advisers.

The announcement of the new ministers comes just a few weeks after Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, called for a national dialogue to address the country’s various challenges, including insecurity, economic instability, and political unrest.

It remains to be seen whether the new appointments will have a significant impact on the country’s political and economic situation. However, many Nigerians are hopeful that the changes will help to bring about much-needed improvements.
