The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has dispelled rumors of any attempted theft of railway coaches in Maiduguri, Borno State.
NRC assured the public that such reports were unfounded and that the railway coaches were securely in transit under official capacity.
The coaches were being transported by NRC officials to the Corporation’s Running Shed in Jos, Plateau State, for maintenance and reintegration into service.
Mr. Fidet Okhiria, the Managing Director of NRC, issued a statement in Lagos to provide this clarification.
This clarification comes in response to reports over the weekend claiming that unidentified individuals had tried to steal railway coaches from the Maiduguri railway station.
The NRC management stressed that the coaches were legitimately being relocated to the NRC Running Shed in Jos, Plateau State, as part of the corporation’s efforts to expand Rail Mass Transit nationwide.
