Daniel Bwala, an aide to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently concluded February 25 election, has shared his perspective on why Godswill Akpabio is unlikely to secure the position of Senate President.

Bwala expressed his thoughts on Twitter, shedding light on the prevailing dynamics. Despite being touted as a potential Senate President candidate by his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akpabio, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, is facing opposition from Senators Ali Ndume, Orji Uzor Kalu, Jibrin Barau, and others.

According to Bwala, the “cloud gathering against his aspiration is heavy and thick.” He clarified that this opposition is not driven by religious factors but rather regional considerations and the desire for revenge by a coalition of adversaries. Furthermore, Bwala suggested that many of the senators who seem to support Akpabio are not genuinely aligned with his cause.
