On November 13, 2023, chaos ensued at the collation center in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, as agents from the Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress (APC) engaged in a physical altercation during the vote counting process.

Despite attempts by the state Returning Officer, Prof Faruq Kuta, to intervene, the clash persisted, creating a scene at the center.

Law enforcement stepped in after a few minutes to restore order, allowing the resumption of the collation exercise. The incident unfolded shortly after the Returning Officer declared Timipre Sylva, the APC candidate, as the winner of the Brass Local Government Area of the state.
