Bauchi, Nigeria – The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘D’, has announced the seizure of contraband goods valued at over N110 million within a one-month period.

The Zonal Coordinator, Comptroller Musa Ibrahim Jalo, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Bauchi. He stated that the seizures were made through intensified surveillance and intelligence-driven operations across the zone, which covers states in the North-East region.

Among the intercepted items were foreign parboiled rice, used vehicles, petroleum products, textiles, and other prohibited goods smuggled through unapproved routes. Comptroller Jalo emphasized that the operation is part of the Customs Service’s commitment to curbing smuggling, protecting the local economy, and enforcing Nigeria’s trade policies.

He added that the success of the operation was due to the dedication of officers in the zone and increased cooperation with local communities and security agencies. No fewer than 12 suspects were arrested in connection with the seizures, and investigations are ongoing.

The comptroller reiterated the service’s zero-tolerance stance on smuggling, warning economic saboteurs to desist or face the full wrath of the law.

The latest figures mark a significant achievement for the zone and align with the NCS’s broader efforts to enhance revenue generation and safeguard national security through strict border enforcement.
