The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Amah Abraham, has declared that there are no factions within the party, insisting that the PDP remains united under what he described as the “mainstream” structure.

He said the mainstream of the party is currently led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, whom he referred to as the national leader of the PDP.

According to him, those opposed to this arrangement are free to leave the party if they are uncomfortable with its current direction.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, he dismissed claims of internal divisions, arguing that the party is not factionalised but rather operating under a recognized leadership structure.

“There is no faction. This is the mainstream of the party as recognized by law. Nyesom Wike today is the national leader of the mainstream of the Peoples Democratic Party,” he said.

He further claimed that discussions are ongoing within the party regarding its direction ahead of the 2027 general elections, suggesting that some members believe the PDP may not field a presidential candidate and could support the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Amah also argued that internal disagreements have weakened the party’s presidential ambition, adding that potential aspirants have yet to fully declare their intentions.

His comments come amid ongoing debates within the PDP over leadership, direction, and strategy ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
