Uhnonma Foundation, a non-profit organization, has urged the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to release the Certificate of Return to Senator Monday Okpebholo, asserting that he is the rightful winner of the party’s governorship primary election in Edo State held last Saturday.

Following the primary election held in preparation for the September 21, 2024 governorship election, two winners emerged. The Chairman of the Edo State Governorship Primary Committee, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, announced Hon. Dennis Idahosa as the winner, while the returning officer, Dr. Stanley Ugboajah, declared Senator Monday Okpebholo as the winner.

Addressing journalists on behalf of the Foundation, comprising over 50 groups, the Director-General, Dr. Maryam Jibbrin, emphasized that there is no controversy regarding the winner of the primary election and insisted that Okpebholo is the authentic victor.

Jibbrin appealed to the APC’s National Working Committee, led by Abdullahi Ganduje, to release the certificate of return to Senator Okpebholo, stating that it would confirm him as the party’s flagbearer. She expressed gratitude to the APC’s NWC and called on other aspirants to accept the outcome of the primary election, urging them to collaborate with Senator Okpebholo for the party’s success in the upcoming governorship election.

She said, “We want to appeal to other aspirants to come back as one family so that they can work together and reclaim Edo State from the hardship that we find ourselves in this present government, so that Edo State can come back to its home which is originally APC.”
