The North-Central Reality Movement (NCRM), a pressure group within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to instruct the immediate resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from his position as the national chairman of APC, following the completion of a six-month tenure.
Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim, the chairman of the NCRM, conveyed this call during a press briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday. The group expressed concern over circulating rumors suggesting that Ganduje was seeking to influence the extension of his tenure beyond the agreed six-month period.
Ibrahim emphasized that any effort to prolong Ganduje’s stay in the office of the APC national chairman would directly violate the earlier agreement made among all parties involved. According to the agreement, Ganduje was to serve as the substantive party chairman for a period of six months, after which the chairmanship position would be returned to the North-Central region to complete their tenure.
The group reminded of the sudden resignation of Ganduje’s predecessor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, from the North-Central zone, in 2023, a few months after President Tinubu assumed office.
In light of these circumstances, the NCRM called on President Tinubu and other party leaders to persuade Dr. Ganduje to gracefully step down from the position in the spirit of unity. The group warned that they were prepared to occupy the APC national secretariat within the next 96 hours if no action was taken.
