In Abuja, President Bola Tinubu has stepped in to mediate in the ongoing political dispute between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, which has caused a political crisis in the state. The two political allies found themselves at the same Police Council meeting, and President Tinubu used the opportunity to address their feud and work towards a resolution.

This intervention by the President was revealed by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who is also the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum. He shared this information with reporters after the meeting presided over by President Tinubu.

Notably, despite their feud, Governor Fubara and Minister Nyesom Wike exchanged pleasantries before the meeting began. This was the first time they met face-to-face since the reported disagreement between them began.

The reported dispute between Fubara and Wike has led to tensions in Rivers State, including an attempt to impeach Governor Fubara by 24 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Additionally, there was a reported bombing of the state House of Assembly, causing damage and disruption.

In response to the situation, the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Rivers State, urging all involved parties to cooperate and allow for a peaceful resolution.

The Rivers State Government has denied reports that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, Chief of Staff Government House, Chidi Amadi, and 23 local government chairmen had been sacked amid the political crisis. The Commissioner for Information and Communications clarified that there were no such directives from the governor as of the given date.

The situation in Rivers State appears to be calming down after the intervention of various political figures and elders. Some youths continue to protest in support of Governor Fubara, while other groups and organizations are calling for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum has indicated that the crisis in Rivers State has been resolved, and the situation is currently relatively peaceful. The forum also expressed its faith in the judiciary to handle political cases impartially and called for economic stability and support for Nigerians.

Despite the ongoing developments, it is important to note that the situation remains dynamic, and further updates may follow.
