Satellite internet provider Starlink has announced an increase in its monthly subscription rates, citing inflation as the driving factor behind the hike. In a message sent to customers on Tuesday, the company revealed that the new rates will apply to both current and new users.
The standard residential package will now cost ₦75,000, while the mobile regional (roam unlimited) package has risen to ₦167,000. For those opting for the mobile global (global roam) plan, the new price is ₦717,000.
According to the message, the revised rates take immediate effect for new customers, while existing customers will see the changes starting from October 31, 2024.
Starlink attributed the price adjustment to “excessive levels of inflation,” stating that the hike was necessary to align service fees with current economic realities. The company assured customers that they can cancel their service without penalties if they choose not to continue with the updated pricing.
This move follows Starlink’s recent growth in Nigeria, where the company has gained popularity for its high-speed satellite internet service, especially in underserved regions.
