Liverpool, May 3, 2025 — Liverpool manager Arne Slot has described winning the Premier League title at Anfield as “one of the best days” of his life, following his side’s emphatic 5-1 victory over Tottenham that clinched a record-breaking 20th English league crown with four games to spare.

Slot, who took charge at the start of the season, soaked in the euphoric scenes at Anfield on Sunday as the Reds secured the title in front of a raucous home crowd.

“Maybe for all the Liverpool fans, but for many of them, one of the best days of their lives — and I think it was the same for me,” said the 46-year-old Dutchman at a press conference on Friday. “The way the whole day went — arriving at the stadium, the intensity of the fans, going 1-0 down and having to fight — made it even more special.”

The win capped off a dominant league campaign that sees Liverpool sit 22 points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea, their next opponents on Sunday. Despite already securing the title, Slot says the Reds remain focused on the challenges ahead, including upcoming fixtures against Arsenal, Brighton, and Crystal Palace.

“It’s nice that we play some very strong teams,” he said. “It’s the end of the season, but we also have to look at this as the start of next season already.”

Slot acknowledged the unexpected margin between Liverpool and Chelsea in the standings, admitting he felt Enzo Maresca’s side were the better team when they met in October — a match Liverpool narrowly won 2-1.

“In that game, we had to suffer more than any other. So to be so many points ahead of them is a big compliment for everyone here at the club,” he said.

With the title secured, Slot plans to rotate his squad in the remaining matches, rewarding fringe players who have impressed in training.

“Some of them deserve to play already earlier this season,” he noted. “This is also a moment to see where they are — and to look towards next season.”

The former Feyenoord manager also highlighted the significance of Liverpool’s success in bolstering their transfer ambitions.

“Winning the league, having these fans — I think this is a big attraction to every player we want to bring in. That’s definitely helpful,” he said.

While key figures like captain Virgil van Dijk and top scorer Mohamed Salah have recently committed their futures to the club, Slot remained tight-lipped on the status of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who continues to be linked with a potential summer move to Real Madrid.

“There’s no update,” he said, declining to speculate further.

Liverpool’s triumph under Slot not only reaffirms their position at the pinnacle of English football but also sets the stage for a new era under his leadership — one already looking beyond celebration and into the future.
