As the countdown to the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly leadership continues, Honorable Yusuf Gagdi has stated that President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu is unaware of the endorsement of certain lawmakers by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Gagdi, the House of Representatives member representing the Pankshin/Kanam/Kanke federal constituency of Plateau State, revealed this information during a conversation with journalists on Tuesday.

His comments came in response to the APC’s endorsement of Abbas Tajudeen for Speaker and Benjamin Kalu for Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, which was announced on May 8.

However, Gagdi, along with other aspirants forming a group referred to as the G7, has voiced opposition to the party’s choices.

He stated, “I hold great respect for our President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and I still believe that he is unaware of the current developments or that they align with his ideas. That is why we continue to challenge the party.”

The G7 group includes Hon. Muktar Betara, Deputy Speaker Hon. Ahmed Wase, House Leader Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, Sada Soli, Aminu Jaji, Miriam Onuoha, and Gagdi.

The House of Representatives and Senate leadership positions will be inaugurated in June following the President-elect’s swearing-in on May 29, 2023.
