The lawmaker representing Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency, Jimi Odimayo, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful and efficient conduct of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State.
Speaking after casting his vote at Legumare Unit 001, Anglican Primary School, Ward 3, Irele Local Government Area, Odimayo praised INEC’s efforts in ensuring a seamless voting experience, describing it as a significant improvement from previous elections.
“So far, it has been peaceful, and our people are conducting themselves well. They are very enthusiastic about the election,” Odimayo remarked. “The process was seamless—it took just about two minutes for the BVAS machine to accredit me before voting. INEC has improved tremendously.”
The Chairman of the House Committee on Population noted the impressive voter turnout compared to the 2023 general elections and lauded constituents for their enthusiasm.
On his party’s prospects, Odimayo expressed confidence, stating, “We are going to win because we have worked for it. We are looking at a massive victory for the APC because we don’t have any challenges at all. This election is going to be a pointer to what to expect in 2027.”
He further emphasized the importance of continuous improvement in Nigeria’s electoral system while reaffirming Ondo State’s loyalty to President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
The peaceful atmosphere and improved election processes in Ondo State serve as a positive signal for Nigeria’s democratic progress.
