TIME magazine has named Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, to its prestigious TIME100 Climate list. The annual list celebrates 100 influential leaders worldwide who are advancing innovative climate solutions. Ogunbiyi’s recognition highlights her commitment to promoting sustainable energy access and an equitable energy transition, especially for developing countries.

TIME praised Ogunbiyi for her focus on climate action through decarbonization and her efforts to meet the energy needs of the Global South. Francesco Starace, Chair of SEforALL’s Governance Board, commended Ogunbiyi’s impact, stating, “Sustainable energy is crucial for addressing the climate crisis. Damilola has shown that change is possible with dedication and focus.”

Ogunbiyi expressed that the honor acknowledges her team’s dedication and global supporters working to address climate change and energy poverty inclusively. This latest recognition joins a list of recent honors, including the UAE’s First Class Order of Zayed II, awarded in September 2024, for her contributions to COP28, and the Global Female Leadership Impact Award. Earlier this year, she was recognized by Reuters as a pioneer for women in climate and energy and received the Energy Institute President’s Award in 2023.

Since becoming SEforALL’s CEO in 2020, Ogunbiyi has led the organization to support over 90 countries, securing more than $1.3 trillion in energy financing and promoting sustainable energy access for emerging economies worldwide.
