Maryam Shetty expressed her response on Friday after learning about her substitution on the ministerial nomination list by President Bola Tinubu. Dr. Mairiga Mahmud from Kano State was appointed as her replacement. Despite the sudden change, Shetty extended her gratitude to President Tinubu for his decision.

The female nominee was notified of her withdrawal from the ministerial nomination and the subsequent replacement with another nominee during the Senate plenary session in Abuja on Friday. Shetty was taken by surprise as she had already left her home to attend the National Assembly for her screening, unaware of the substitution.

In a brief statement, Shetty addressed the situation without revealing further details

“I was just informed now at today’s plenary session that President Bola Ahmad Tinubu has withdraw my ministerial nomination and replaced with Dr Mairiga Mahmud.

“I’m grateful and thankful for any decision from you, My President!”
