Indian armed forces launched surgical strikes on militant camps in Pakistan-administered Kashmir early Tuesday morning, days after a deadly attack claimed the lives of a dozen Indian tourists in northern Kashmir.

The coordinated military operation was approved at the highest levels of government after intelligence linked the attackers to Lashkar-e-Taiba, a banned militant group believed to operate with impunity from across the border.

“The perpetrators of this heinous crime will not be spared,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an emergency session of Parliament. “India will not tolerate the spilling of innocent blood on its soil.”

Pakistan denied the presence of militant camps on its territory and accused India of using the incident to escalate tensions for domestic political gain.

Diplomatic channels between the two countries have gone silent as military readiness increases on both sides. Analysts warn that without urgent de-escalation, the situation could spiral into a broader conflict.
