Following Monday evening’s national electricity grid collapse, Ikeja Electric has announced a new system failure, further disrupting power supply across its distribution network. The company made the announcement on Tuesday through a statement on its official X.com account.

According to the statement, the latest outage occurred at 9:17 am on October 15, 2024. Ikeja Electric assured its customers that efforts are underway to restore power, in collaboration with key stakeholders.

“Dear esteemed customer, Please be informed that we experienced another system outage today, 15/10/2024, @09:17hrs, affecting supply within our network. Restoration of supply is ongoing in collaboration with our critical stakeholders. Kindly bear with us,” the statement read.

This comes just after Monday’s grid collapse, which plunged many parts of Nigeria into darkness. Reports show that power generation dropped from 3.87 gigawatts at 5 pm to 3.56GW at 6 pm, and then completely to 0.00GW by 7 pm, continuing through 8 pm.

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company also confirmed the national grid failure in a statement, further highlighting the frequent issues with Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
