Oseni Rufai, a journalist, has addressed the comparisons being made between President Bola Tinubu’s large convoy during his visit to Lagos State and Peter Obi’s convoy during a presidential campaign. Rufai emphasizes that these comparisons lack factual basis.

According to Rufai, the key difference lies in the fact that Bola Tinubu is the President of Nigeria, and the country’s financial situation necessitates government officials to reduce the cost of governance. In contrast, Rufai explains that Peter Obi’s convoy, captured in a video, was utilized during his campaign, with the expenses not drawn from public funds.

Rufai further reveals that the video of Peter Obi’s convoy demonstrates that some of the vehicles accompanying him were ordinary cars belonging to his supporters. This accounts for the length of the convoy.

It is important to note that Rufai clarifies that the extensive convoy witnessed during Bola Tinubu’s visit to Lagos State did not solely belong to President Tinubu. However, Rufai emphasizes that a majority of the vehicles were owned by serving government officials. The substantial size of the convoy underscores the need to reduce the cost of governance, as per Rufai’s stance.

Rufai’s comments highlight the disparities between the convoys in question and emphasize the importance of fiscal responsibility in government spending.
