Premier League giants Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly preparing substantial bids to secure the services of Atalanta BC winger Ademola Lookman in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes, both clubs are willing to offer up to €75 million (£63.2 million) for the Nigerian international, who played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s historic Europa League triumph last season. Lookman’s stunning hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen cemented his reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking talents.

The 26-year-old has maintained his impressive form this season, contributing 18 goals and seven assists in 32 appearances across all competitions. However, speculation over his future has intensified following reports of a rift with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini.

Lookman, who joined the Italian side from RB Leipzig for just €9.4 million (£7.9 million) in 2022, has become an integral part of the squad, amassing 50 goals and 22 assists in 110 appearances. With his contract set to expire in 2026—unless Atalanta activate a one-year extension—interest from top European clubs has surged.

A return to the Premier League appears to be Lookman’s preferred option should he part ways with the Europa League champions. Liverpool, currently facing uncertainty over Mohamed Salah’s future, view the versatile forward as a potential reinforcement for their attacking options. Meanwhile, Chelsea, looking to revamp their squad, could see Lookman as a valuable addition given his ability to play across multiple attacking positions.

Atalanta may find it difficult to reject such a significant offer, even if they exercise the contract extension clause, as Lookman is unlikely to sign a long-term renewal.

As the summer transfer window approaches, the battle for Lookman’s signature is expected to intensify, with both Chelsea and Liverpool keen to add the dynamic winger to their ranks.
