Inauguration of Bauchi State Cabinet Sees Governor Bala Mohammed’s Stern Warning to Commissioners

In a solemn event marking the induction of the latest state cabinet in Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed issued a strong caution to the freshly inaugurated commissioners. He firmly communicated his intention to take punitive measures, including removal from office, should any of them be found guilty of misconduct.

During the swearing-in ceremony for the 24 newly appointed commissioners on Monday, Governor Mohammed delivered a compelling address. He urged the commissioners to uphold ethical conduct and firmly resist the allure of abusing their positions.

Central to the governor’s message was an emphasis on unwavering loyalty to both the government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He called upon the commissioners to internalize the values of accountability and transparency, guiding their actions throughout their tenure.

Governor Mohammed underscored his expectations, stating, “Let it be crystal clear that your appointment is not an avenue for personal enrichment or the pursuit of self-serving political agendas. What is demanded of you is a spirit of sacrifice and dedicated service.”

“No commissioner is better than the other, no commissioner is more senior than the other. In my government, there is no prime minister and all commissioners are equal. You should also know that you are stakeholders in the state and your local governments.

“This requires that you continuously collaborate with party leaders, local government chairmen, legislators at the national and state level, and traditional, religious leaders.”

The Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Yakubu Adamu, on behalf of the new Commissioners, expressed appreciation to the governor for the honour to serve the state.

He assured the governor that they would work and succeed together in making the state a better place for all.
