APC UK South-West Caucus Condemns Attack on Amotekun Corps by Fulani Herdsmen
The All Progressives Congress (APC) UK South-West Caucus has strongly condemned the brutal attack on officers and men of the Amotekun Corps by Fulani herdsmen in Akure North, the capital of Ondo State. The caucus described the attack as “barbaric” and “unacceptable” and pledged to provide support for the victims.
In a statement jointly signed by the group’s General Secretary Mr. Ayodele Adigun and Chairman Hon. Andrew Taiwo, the APC UK South-West Caucus expressed shock and outrage over the incident, which left several Amotekun officers injured, with one in critical condition.
Reacting to the incident, Hon. Andrew Taiwo reiterated the caucus’s call for the provision of sophisticated weapons for the Amotekun Corps to ensure effective security and protection of lives and properties in southwestern Nigeria.
The caucus commended the Ondo State government for its prompt response to the incident, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring security across the state.
“We appreciate the swift action of the Ondo State Government following the incident. It is disheartening to witness such brutal attacks in this day and age. This incident highlights the urgent need for the Amotekun Corps to be better equipped with sophisticated weapons to prevent future occurrences,” the statement read.
The caucus also urged the federal and state governments to provide the necessary enabling laws to support the southwestern Nigeria security network in combating insecurity in the region. The APC UK South-West Caucus expressed solidarity with the victims and their families, promising continued support for the Southwestern Nigeria Governors’ Forum in its efforts to ensure peace and security in the region.
