In a proactive move aimed at fostering unity and ensuring security in Kano State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have joined hands in signing a peace accord with the Kano State Police Force.

The significant gathering, convened at the Bompai headquarters, marks the second peace accord in anticipation of the impending judgment in the gubernatorial race, following a precedent set by a similar agreement before the Appeal Court decision. With the Supreme Court’s ruling on the gubernatorial race looming, the collaborative efforts underscore a shared commitment to maintaining peace and security in Kano State.

Commending both major political parties for their cooperative spirit in the interest of stability, Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Hussain Gumel, expressed gratitude during the meeting. As the New Year and Christmas festivities approach, CP Gumel emphasized the ongoing necessity of dialogue with political and security stakeholders.

The discussions delved into the ongoing Kano State Governorship election case currently before the Supreme Court. In a collective pledge, representatives from both the APC and NNPP assured the commitment to sustaining peace and security, with a paramount focus on safeguarding the lives and property of the community.

CP Gumel affirmed the preparedness of the police force and other security agencies to ensure comprehensive security in Kano State. He issued a stern warning to any groups attempting to disrupt the peace, making it clear that such actions would not be tolerated. Attended by various security forces, heads of local governments, and representatives from the APC and NNPP, the meeting serves as a testament to the unified determination of all stakeholders to uphold stability in the state.
