Aisha Yesufu, the activist and co-convener of the #Bring Back Our Girls group, expressed strong disapproval of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for electing former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, as the National Chairman of the party.
Ganduje, who has a pending case relating to allegations of bribery, was captured on video allegedly collecting and stuffing wads of dollar notes into his pocket. Despite these allegations, he was elected as the party’s National Chairman by the National Working Committee (NEC) of the APC on Thursday in Abuja.
In a tweet on Friday, Aisha Yesufu criticized the party’s decision to choose Ganduje as its chairman. She asserted that the immediate past Kano governor, who is allegedly involved in criminal activities, should be in prison rather than rewarded with such a prominent position.
Aisha Yesufu further pointed out that the ruling party’s choice of Ganduje as the National Chairman indicates a concerning trend of encouraging, nurturing, and rewarding criminal behavior, rather than holding offenders accountable.
