Maru, Zamfara State – Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing crucial infrastructure projects, particularly in the healthcare sector. The governor made this declaration during the inauguration of the newly renovated General Hospital in Maru Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Sunday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, Governor Lawal emphasized his administration’s ongoing efforts to renovate and equip general hospitals across Zamfara State, ensuring access to high-quality medical services for all residents.

While inspecting the upgraded infrastructure and advanced medical equipment at the Maru General Hospital, Lawal expressed his mission to create a healthcare environment that meets modern standards of accessibility and affordability.

“The renovation works carried out in this hospital include upgrading the facilities to ensure that the people of Maru and its environs have access to decent healthcare. The renovation has modernized the physical structure and integrated advanced medical technologies and systems,” Lawal said.

The governor further noted that the improvements would allow the hospital to handle a broad range of medical cases, from routine check-ups to complex surgeries, ensuring that staff are equipped to deliver high-quality care.

“Our mission is to provide a state-of-the-art healthcare environment that caters to the needs of our people by ensuring that quality medical services are accessible and affordable to all,” he reiterated.

As part of the project, a 39-kilowatt solar power system has been installed to ensure a reliable power supply for medical equipment, while 35 streetlights have been set up around the hospital premises to enhance security and visibility.

Governor Lawal also urged the Ministry of Health to take measures to maintain the hospital’s continuous operation and encouraged the people of Maru and Zamfara State to fully utilize the new facilities.

The Maru General Hospital renovation is part of a larger effort by the Zamfara government to revamp healthcare services across the state, signaling a commitment to improving healthcare delivery despite ongoing security and developmental challenges in the region.

This healthcare initiative follows other key projects in Zamfara, including the recently inaugurated N6.6 billion road project, reflecting the government’s broader development strategy.
