Nigerian music star Ice Prince has responded to criticisms surrounding his performance at the 2026 national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The rapper had faced backlash on social media after performing at the ruling party’s convention amid growing concerns over insecurity and economic hardship in Nigeria.

Critics accused the artiste of entertaining politicians instead of using his platform to demand accountability from the government.

Reacting during a recent episode of the Black Box podcast, Ice Prince explained that his appearance at the event was based on family ties with the APC National Chairman.

“Who booked me for that event? My uncle — Nentawe Yilwatda who is the APC Chairman. He is not just a random person to me. He is my real uncle,” he said.

The artiste maintained that his decision to perform was influenced by their personal relationship rather than political considerations.
