French police released US rapper Travis Scott on Saturday after holding him for 36 hours in Paris. The 33-year-old artist, known for his Grammy nominations, was detained following an alleged altercation with a security guard at a five-star hotel.

Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was initially arrested at the Georges V hotel early on Friday morning for “violence against a security agent” who intervened in a dispute between the rapper and his bodyguard. The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that Scott was released without charges due to insufficient evidence.

A representative for Scott confirmed the release, stating that “Travis Scott has been released without charges.” The Paris prosecutor’s office echoed this statement, noting the dismissal of the case.

Earlier on Friday, Scott’s management had been in direct communication with Parisian authorities to resolve the issue swiftly. The rapper was also seen attending the men’s basketball semi-finals at the Olympics on Thursday evening.

Scott has faced legal issues in the past. In June, he was arrested in Miami Beach for trespassing and disorderly intoxication following a fight on a yacht. Additionally, in November 2021, ten people were killed in a crowd crush at his concert in Houston, Texas.

Despite these controversies, Scott continues to be a prominent figure in the music industry. His album “Utopia” received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album this year. Scott also maintains high-profile partnerships with Nike, Epic Games, and McDonald’s. He has two children with social media influencer Kylie Jenner.
