Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the official posting of 65 ambassadors-designate to Nigeria’s diplomatic missions across the world, including positions at the United Nations.

The appointments consist of 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career ambassadors whose nominations had earlier been confirmed by the Senate in December 2025. The envoys are expected to represent Nigeria in various countries and international organisations as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s diplomatic presence.

Among the prominent non-career ambassadors on the list is former presidential aide Reno Omokri, who has been assigned to Mexico. Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode will serve as Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany.

Also included in the postings is former Minister of Health Isaac Adewole, who has been deployed to Canada, while former Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau has been assigned to China.

Other notable appointments include Ita Enang as ambassador to South Africa and Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Former Lagos deputy governor Olufemi Pedro has been posted to Australia, while retired intelligence chief Lateef Kayode Are will represent Nigeria in the United States.

The President also approved the deployment of several career diplomats to strategic missions. Among them are Ambassador Abdussalam Habu Zayyad to Senegal, Ambassador Haidara Mohammed Idris to The Hague in the Netherlands, Ambassador Ayeni Adebayo Emmanuel to Belgium, and Ambassador Ibrahim Danlami to Kenya.

The Presidency disclosed that some host countries have already granted diplomatic clearance, known as agrément, to the Nigerian envoys. The United Kingdom has approved Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu as Nigeria’s High Commissioner, while France has issued agrément for Ambassador Ayo Oke.

According to the government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already notified other countries about the appointments and requested their agrément in line with diplomatic procedures.

Tinubu has also directed the Ministry to begin an induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners ahead of their deployment to their respective missions around the world.
