TG Omori Reveals Failed Kidney Transplant, Calls for Prayers Amid Health Struggles

Lagos, Nigeria — Award-winning cinematographer and music producer ThankGod Omori, popularly known as TG Omori, has disclosed that he recently underwent a failed kidney transplant following a donation from his brother. The renowned director, known for his work with top Nigerian music artists, made the revelation on Wednesday, asking Nigerians to pray for him as he continues to battle a severe kidney-related ailment.

Omori, who has been relatively absent from the public eye in recent months, took to social media to share his health ordeal, writing, “One year after my kidney crashed, I just had a failed transplant at St Nicolas Hospital Lagos. Pray for me.”

He further revealed that this was not his first time in the operating room, stating, “I have been in the theatre three times already. I’m just not destined to die today.”

Earlier, Omori had expressed deep gratitude to his brother, who selflessly donated a kidney in a bid to save his life. “Yesterday, my only brother gave me one of his kidneys so I could live again. Keep my spirit alive. I don’t wanna die,” he shared in an emotional post.

The music producer also shared a heart-wrenching image of himself in a hospital bed, receiving oxygen, which has further heightened concerns about his health among his fans and well-wishers.

Despite his attempts to maintain a positive outlook, Omori had been posting cryptic messages on social media in the weeks leading up to his surgery, hinting at his deteriorating health. Last month, he wrote on his X handle, “If I cross your mind, sometimes say a prayer for me,” adding a reflective note on his lifestyle, “Poor marijuana, they blame you for all my rasclaat. You wanna eat, I wanna live.”

The news of his failed transplant has sparked an outpouring of support and prayers from netizens. A user with the handle #Mr Ebony tweeted, “The biggest sacrifices are from families, especially brothers. Quick recovery bruh.” Another user, tweeting under #Ikorodu President, added, “Ohh really, hadn’t been you tell me I would have gladly give you one of mine so you can live.”

Encouraging messages have continued to flood in, with many expressing hope for his recovery. A user with the handle #Honest30bgfan wrote, “Stay strong, wishing you speed recovery. Nothing go do you in Jesus name,” while another, #Realtimmywrld, pointed out, “When they tell you to stop smoking, you guys won’t listen. Thank God for giving you a second chance.”

TG Omori, affectionately known as Boy Director, is a prominent figure in the Nigerian music industry. Since 2018, he has directed music videos for a diverse range of artists, including Olamide, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tekno, Kizz Daniel, Fireboy DML, Falz, Naira Marley, and Asake, among others. His creative vision and distinctive style have earned him widespread acclaim, making him one of the most sought-after directors in the industry.
