The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled power disruption in parts of Akwa Ibom State due to maintenance work on its transformers. The maintenance will take place on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.
According to TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, the outage is necessary for the maintenance of one of the 60 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) power transformers at the 132/33kV Uyo Transmission Substation. This work will temporarily interrupt the bulk power supply to the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (DisCo), which will affect electricity distribution to end-users in the following areas: Abak, Ikot-Ekpene, Afaha Ube, and Idoro.
Mbah emphasized that the power interruption is essential to ensure the safety of engineers working on the maintenance, and assured that power will be restored immediately after the work is completed.
The TCN is urging residents and businesses in the affected areas to plan accordingly during the scheduled maintenance period.
