Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has issued a directive to the chairmen of the 16 local government areas, instructing them to make the security of life and property their paramount concern. The governor conveyed this directive during his inaugural meeting with the newly elected local government council chairmen at the Government House in Jalingo, the state capital. The chairmen assumed office on November 22, 2023.
Addressing the chairmen, Governor Kefas emphasized the importance of prioritizing the security and welfare of the people in their respective local government areas. In an interview with journalists, Dr. Babangida Hassan, the permanent secretary of the Bureau of Local Government, Traditional and Chieftaincy Affairs, shared insights from the meeting. He highlighted that the governor stressed the need for the chairmen to remain actively engaged in their offices and maintain communication with traditional rulers to gather security intelligence and prevent potential security challenges in their regions.
“The governor is passionate about the well-being of the people and the development of the people at the grassroots,” stated Hassan, describing the meeting as a wake-up call for the local government chairmen to stay vigilant and proactive in addressing security issues within their jurisdictions.
