Amsterdam, October 31, 2024 — Popular social media personality Okuneye Idris, better known as Bobrisky, faced removal from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight late Thursday night after immigration officers detained him during an attempt to leave the country.

Taking to Instagram, the cross-dresser alerted followers about his situation, claiming he sustained injuries during a confrontation with officers. He alleged that Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was responsible for the detention, posting, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”

This incident follows previous run-ins with authorities. On October 22, Bobrisky was intercepted at the Sème border, reportedly attempting to flee Nigeria. His legal troubles date back to April 2024, when the Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced him to six months in prison over naira abuse. Initially assigned to Kirikiri Prison, reports later emerged suggesting he spent only three weeks in confinement before being moved to a private location. Rumors swirled about a ₦15 million bribe to facilitate his transfer and favorable treatment.

The saga intensified in September when a leaked audio clip surfaced, allegedly capturing Bobrisky claiming that music artist Falz and his father, renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, offered him a presidential pardon for ₦10 million. Both Falz and Falana refuted the claim, issuing a cease-and-desist letter on October 16 demanding a retraction and public apology. Bobrisky has since denied the allegations, insisting he had no involvement in the recording and urging the Falanas to hold social media influencer VeryDarkMan, who posted the audio, accountable.

Bobrisky’s high-profile legal issues have continued to dominate headlines, with this latest detention raising further questions about his status and potential forthcoming actions by the EFCC.
