The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended six students from Federal University Dutsinma in connection with the alleged murder of Abubakar Nasir-Barda, a 21-year-old second-year student at the university. The incident occurred in Darawa quarters, Dutsinma Local Government Area, on September 28, 2023, and is believed to have stemmed from a heated dispute among the students concerning a romantic relationship with a fellow female student.

ASP Aliyu Abubakar-Sadiq, the spokesperson for the command, clarified that there was no evidence to support claims that the murder was related to religious issues. The police are taking the matter seriously and are conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the truth surrounding the incident. This includes gathering eyewitness testimonies and other evidence to ensure justice and fairness.

As the investigation progresses, the police pledge to keep the public informed and encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward. Commissioner of Police Aliyu Abubakar-Musa extended his condolences to the victim’s family and urged the public to remain calm.
