Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State officially signed the 2024 appropriation bill into law on Friday. Having presented the Budget of Economic Resilience, totaling N384 billion, to the State House of Assembly on December 21, 2023, while acting as the state’s governor, Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude during the signing for the meticulous consideration and swift passage of the budget by the House.
In his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa disclosed that after extensive deliberation and consultation with various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and the Judiciary, the approved budget for 2024 stands at N395,257,000,000. Out of this, N222,259,827,500 (56.23%) is allocated for Capital Expenditure, and N172,997,172,500 (43.77%) is designated for Recurrent Expenditure.
Governor Aiyedatiwa assured that his administration would implement the 2024 budget with probity and transparency. He stated, “In pursuit of this, the 2024 Budget details will be made available on the Ondo State portal www.ondobudget.org, for access and monitoring.”
Highlighting the focus of the budget on human capital development, climate change, a clean and sustainable environment, rural development, and food security, Aiyedatiwa emphasized the commitment to completing ongoing legacy infrastructural projects initiated by the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. Additionally, the administration will continue to meet salary, pension, and gratuity obligations.
Governor Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the challenges posed by the recent petrol subsidy removal and pledged to implement measures to mitigate the effects on the people. He concluded by seeking the continuous understanding and cooperation of the citizens, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to delivering people-centered projects in line with its REDEEMED Agenda.
