The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has mobilized 1,190 officers in preparation for the nationwide protest scheduled to start on August 1. The announcement was made by the State Commandant, Maku Olatunde, following a coordination meeting with other service commanders in Awka, the state capital.

In a statement released on Monday by the Head of Media and Tactical Operations, Okadigbo Edwin, the NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the protest. The deployment aligns with instructions from the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, emphasizing the agency’s role in safeguarding national assets and infrastructure.

According to the statement, 350 officers will be assigned to manage anti-sit-at-home operations, while 840 will focus on preventing violence, lawlessness, and vandalism of critical infrastructure. The NSCDC stressed its proactive stance in ensuring the safety of Anambra residents and the protection of essential assets.

The NSCDC also acknowledged citizens’ rights to protest but urged organizers to adhere to legal frameworks. It warned against any illegal activities, including tampering with government property or disrupting crucial services such as those at airports and hospitals. The agency promised to enforce legal consequences for violations and take strict measures against any actions that threaten public order or national assets.
