February 14th is a day synonymous with love and affection, often celebrated by couples and lovers around the world. However, social entrepreneur, public speaker, and creative artist, Husayn Zaguru, saw an opportunity to use Valentine’s Day to promote a greater show of empathy, care, and love to society and humanity as a whole. Zaguru hosted the first-ever virtual session on Valentine’s Day, themed “Giving Back to Society: The Greatest Love of All,” held via Twitter Space at 8 p.m. GMT+.
Zaguru was joined by fellow social entrepreneurs and creatives, including Tande Elias from South Sudan, Su’eddie Vershima Agema, Oruz Kennedy, Khalifa-Aliyu Adamu, and Gabriel Nkanu. The panelists shared their experiences as social entrepreneurs, charity-led NGOs, and individuals who are dedicated to social causes, demonstrating their commitment to making the world a better place and improving the lives of those around them in communities.
During the virtual session, various topics were discussed, including the importance of social entrepreneurship, the challenges and opportunities that come with starting and running a social enterprise, and the different ways in which social entrepreneurs can give back to society, focusing on the younger ones. The talks also explored how social entrepreneurship and volunteerism can contribute to the achievement of the GivingTuesday core values of generosity and global giving.
The session highlighted the crucial role that social entrepreneurs, charity-led NGOs, causes, and individuals play in building a more just, sustainable, and equitable world. It emphasized the importance of giving back to society, increasing acts of generosity, and showing love and compassion, which is the greatest love of all.
The Twitter Space Session has been tagged “InspireUs” and themed “TalkGenerosity,” inspired by GivingTuesday in the United States. It will be a bi-weekly talk session addressing and inspiring the global act of giving back to communities and increasing acts of generosity.
In a world that needs more love and empathy, it is heartwarming to see individuals like Husayn Zaguru and his fellow panelists making a difference in society. Their efforts and resources to social causes demonstrate their commitment to making the world a better place and improving the lives of those around them.
