The emerging opposition coalition, National Consultative Front (NCFront), has urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to address the escalating issues of kidnappings and corruption during its tenure, dismissing concerns over the formation of a mega opposition party.

In response to recent criticism from the APC’s national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, regarding the formation of a new mega party by opposition leaders, NCFront insisted that the APC should focus on the rising cases of kidnappings and corruption rather than divert attention through unnecessary conversations.

The opposition coalition specifically called for a genuine investigation into corruption within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management. They condemned the theft of poverty alleviation funds in a government claiming sacrifices amidst widespread poverty.

NCFront’s acting spokesman, Mallam Hamisu San Turaki, criticized the APC’s handling of governance and the economy, describing their recent statements as an admission of failure. Turaki highlighted the ongoing merger talks among opposition parties, emphasizing the APC’s unease with the prospect of a united opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.

The NCFront expressed concern over the security situation in the country, accusing the APC of turning Nigeria into a terrorized environment. They questioned the effectiveness of the huge budgetary allocations to the security sector and noted the deteriorating security conditions, including kidnappings in the federal capital territory, Abuja.

Addressing the revelations of corruption within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, NCFront called for a thorough investigation and prosecution. They emphasized the need for accountability and demanded that those responsible for the alleged corruption be held accountable.
