Lagos, Nigeria – Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has refuted claims that he dismissed the nurse who reportedly treated his son before his tragic death.
Aloba’s response comes after allegations made by Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi, during an interview with media personality Chudity on February 19, 2025. Wunmi alleged that after informing Aloba about the nurse’s role in Mohbad’s final moments, he ignored the issue.
However, speaking during a TikTok live session on Tuesday, Aloba denied ever meeting or speaking to the nurse, either in person or online.
“I’ve never set my eyes on the nurse. If I had seen her, it would have been on the internet. We haven’t met physically. The nurse and I never had any conversation at all. Since I started narrating what happened to Mohbad that night, I never mentioned the nurse. I didn’t see any nurse there; nobody introduced the nurse to me,” he stated.
Legal Case and Controversies
Mohbad’s death in September 2023 sparked public outrage and multiple investigations. The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) recently revealed that Mohbad had withdrawn assault complaints against his former record label boss, Naira Marley, before his passing.
Meanwhile, the nurse in question is facing trial, while a Lagos court has cleared Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and PrimeBoy of any direct involvement in Mohbad’s death.
Dispute Over Mohbad’s Properties
Beyond the controversy surrounding the nurse, Aloba also raised concerns about ownership of Mohbad’s properties.
He questioned why some of his late son’s assets were in his grandson Liam’s name, claiming he was unaware of how this decision was made.
“I don’t know how they managed to do that. When he came back from his tour, I met him, and he said he had bought two new plots at Elepe but in Liam’s name. I do not know the reason,” Aloba stated.
The grieving father further alleged that most of Mohbad’s land documents were in the possession of Wunmi’s mother, except for one property in Gberigbe, which Mohbad had reportedly set aside for building a church for his father.
“Mohbad told me that he bought land through Wunmi’s mother. He said he bought two acres of land at Agbowa through her and a plot at Elepe, which has been transferred to Gberigbe,” Aloba added.
Ongoing Family Dispute
Mohbad’s sudden death has led to a bitter family dispute, with ongoing tensions between Aloba and Wunmi. The ownership of the late singer’s estate remains a contentious issue, while investigations into his cause of death continue.
Despite the legal battles and family conflict, fans and well-wishers continue to demand justice for Mohbad, who was seen as one of Nigeria’s rising music stars before his untimely passing.
