Manchester, England – Premier League champions Manchester City have officially announced the signing of 25-year-old Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt. The forward has agreed to a four-and-a-half-year deal, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2029.
Recognized as one of Europe’s brightest attacking talents, Marmoush adds versatility to City’s frontline with his ability to operate in multiple attacking roles. The Egyptian international, who has earned 35 caps for his national team, shared his enthusiasm about the move, calling it “an amazing feeling” to join Pep Guardiola’s side.
“This is a day I will never forget,” Marmoush said. “To sign for Manchester City – one of the best teams in the world – is incredible. My family is proud, and we’re all excited to start this new chapter in Manchester.”
Marmoush’s Journey to City
Marmoush began his professional career in Egypt with Wadi Degla before moving to Germany in 2017, where he played for Wolfsburg and later joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023. His impressive stint at Frankfurt included 17 goals in 41 appearances during the 2023/24 season, and he has carried that momentum into the current campaign, with 20 goals and 14 assists in 26 matches before his move to Manchester.
Praise from City’s Management
Manchester City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, expressed his delight over the signing, describing Marmoush as “an accomplished and exciting forward.”
“He has outstanding pace, awareness, and is exceptional in front of goal. His ability to play multiple positions across the attack makes him a valuable asset,” Begiristain said. “Working under Pep Guardiola and our technical staff will help him elevate his already impressive talent.”
Marmoush’s Ambition and Excitement
Marmoush emphasized his eagerness to improve and win trophies with City.
“Joining a club like City, with its winning culture, is a dream come true. With Pep and the world-class facilities here, I know I have everything I need to grow as a player,” Marmoush stated. “I’m here to contribute to the team’s success and hopefully add more trophies to the cabinet.”
A Rising Star in Europe
Marmoush’s performances have drawn comparisons to Egypt’s all-time great Mohamed Salah. His 15 Bundesliga goals last season were the second-highest tally by an Egyptian in Europe’s top five leagues, behind only Salah. With City’s attacking style of play and Guardiola’s renowned coaching, Marmoush is expected to further develop into a top-tier forward.
Manchester City fans will now be eager to see how Marmoush integrates into the squad as they continue their pursuit of domestic and European glory.
