Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is expected to miss around six weeks of action after suffering a hamstring injury during the club’s recent 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. The injury, sustained late in the second half, forced the 32-year-old Brazilian international off the pitch.

Reports from British media indicate that medical tests have confirmed Alisson will not return until after the next international break, with a potential comeback set for Liverpool’s away match against Southampton on 24 November. This timeline rules him out of key Premier League fixtures against Chelsea on 20 October and Arsenal a week later. Additionally, he will miss Liverpool’s upcoming Champions League clashes with RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.

Arne Slot, Liverpool’s manager, acknowledged the severity of the injury following the Crystal Palace match, stating, “It will be a few weeks before he’s back. I think it’s his hamstring. He’s clearly our number one, the best goalkeeper in the world. It’s always a blow when he’s injured, not just for him but for us as a team.”

In Alisson’s absence, backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to step in. Kelleher missed the Crystal Palace game due to illness but is anticipated to resume duties, as he did last season when Alisson was out with a similar injury.

Liverpool currently lead the Premier League with 18 points from seven matches, sitting one point ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal. The loss of Alisson comes as a major setback, with several crucial games ahead as they aim to extend their lead at the top of the table.
