Three individuals were abducted on Tuesday evening near the Innoson Motorcycle Showroom along the Onitsha-Owerri Road in Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Eyewitnesses reported that the victims were traveling in a vehicle when armed assailants blocked their path. The hoodlums forced the victims out of their car, bundled them into another vehicle, and fled the scene. One of the attackers drove off in the victims’ vehicle, following the primary getaway car.
The incident, which happened quickly in the cover of darkness, left residents in panic. An eyewitness explained, “It all happened within seconds. Because it was dark, we couldn’t clearly identify the vehicles involved.”
Police Launch Rescue Efforts
Anambra State Police Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident and stated that security forces were actively pursuing the suspects.
“Anambra Joint Security Forces are working to ensure the unhurt rescue of the three abducted victims and the arrest of the perpetrators,” Ikenga said. “The police command is leveraging information gathered from the scene to aid the ongoing rescue operations.”
Authorities urged residents with any useful information to contact the police headquarters in Awka or the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.
