In the upcoming Yobe East Senatorial Bye-election scheduled for February, Hon Musa Mustapha, the former commissioner of the Yobe State Ministry of Transport and Energy, secures victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary. The vacancy in the Yobe East Senatorial seat arose when Senator Ibrahim Gaidam was appointed Minister of Police Affairs by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Mustapha, popularly known as ‘Kulas,’ clinched the win by receiving 356 out of 357 votes cast, with his sole opponent, Salisu Sanda, scoring zero. The primary election, held at the August 27 Stadium in Damaturu on Saturday, was overseen by a three-member committee chaired by Ibrahim Masari, with Ibrahim Jalo serving as the secretary.
In his acceptance speech, Mustapha pledged to safeguard the interests of the people in Yobe East Senatorial District (Zone A) during the 10th National Assembly. He expressed gratitude to Governor Mai Mala Buni and Yobe State APC Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, for their leadership in consistently guiding the party to success. Mustapha also extended his thanks to the delegates for their trust in the APC and their votes, assuring them that he would justify the confidence placed in him.
