Just a day after his inauguration, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, directed contractors to resume work on neglected road projects across Benin City. During an inspection of Upper Mission Extension Road by Aduwawa Junction and Ramat Park Axis, Okpebholo emphasized the urgent need for action, aligning his administration’s priorities with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “renewed hope” agenda.

The governor, visibly concerned by the deteriorating road conditions, assured residents that repairs would begin without delay. “During the campaigns, I promised to hit the ground running. Today, I ordered contractors back to the sites. We have no time to waste,” Okpebholo said. He noted that the current dry season presents a critical window to improve the city’s infrastructure.

Okpebholo confirmed that work is set to begin on several key routes, including the 7.5km Temboga Road, Lucky Way Junction by Aduwawa, and the Ramat Park/Slope Axis. Additional repairs are planned for Eyaen Road and Obadan Junction along the Benin/Auchi Expressway.

Sworn in on October 12 alongside Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, Okpebholo had pledged in his inaugural speech to prioritize road development to ensure Edo residents experience the “dividends of democracy.”

The day’s activities also included the commissioning of a new branch of Premium Trust Bank in Benin, underscoring the administration’s commitment to fostering economic growth.
