As Nigeria marks its 64th Independence anniversary, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has pledged his administration’s continued focus on ensuring the security of lives and property across the state.

In a press release issued on Tuesday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Bala reaffirmed the government’s partnership with security agencies to swiftly address any emerging threats.

“As a responsible and responsive government, we have taken measures, in collaboration with security agencies, to protect the lives and property of our people by swiftly addressing any form of security challenges,” the statement read. “I want to assure you that security will continue to be our top priority so that the relative peace being enjoyed in the state is sustained.”

In his message commemorating Nigeria’s Independence, the governor urged citizens to reflect on the sacrifices of the country’s founding fathers and to ensure that their efforts are not in vain.

“Today, we have shown the world that, against all odds, we are not only capable of governing ourselves but can also understand our differences, respect each other’s values, and unite towards developing our country despite our sociocultural diversity,” Bala said.

While acknowledging the political and economic challenges that Nigeria has faced since independence, Bala expressed optimism about the country’s democratic growth. He pointed to the progress made in Bauchi State, particularly in infrastructure, as evidence of the positive strides being taken under his administration.

The governor also addressed the economic hardships currently affecting many Nigerians, noting the efforts made by both the state and federal governments to provide relief through palliative measures. He called for patience and cooperation from the citizens as these initiatives continue.

“Let me reassure you that the palliative measures taken by both the State and Federal Governments to mitigate the hardship through the provision of food and non-food items will be sustained,” he added, urging Nigerians to remain dedicated to the country’s development.

Governor Bala concluded by commending the resilience of Nigerians in the face of adversity and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of the people in Bauchi State.
