The Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has attributed Nigeria’s ongoing economic challenges to poor electoral decisions during the 2023 elections.
Suleman made these remarks during the two-day “Recovery Conference 2025” held in Bauchi State, as reported by the Daily Post. Ahead of the event, the cleric visited Governor Bala Mohammed at the Bauchi State Government House, commending his leadership and pledging prayers for the state’s progress.
Electoral Choices and Economic Woes
Speaking to journalists at the Government House, Suleman criticized Nigerians for their voting decisions in 2023, suggesting they contributed to the country’s current predicament.
“What Nigerians are going through is partly what they deserve. Before the election, we cried out, we screamed, we yelled. The man who came into leadership had no manifesto—just a sense of entitlement with his ‘it’s my turn’ mantra,” he said, referring to President Bola Tinubu.
He highlighted the mismanagement of the oil sector, warning of its long-term implications.
“The oil sector has been plundered. In the next 10 to 15 years, I don’t think Nigerians will recover from the damage. Now, all we can do is pray,” he added.
Suleman called for reflection ahead of the 2027 elections, urging Nigerians to make better choices if they have “suffered enough by then.”
Governor Bala Mohammed Echoes Concerns
Governor Bala Mohammed shared similar criticisms of Tinubu’s administration, particularly regarding policy direction.
“Tinubu’s policies don’t have a clear vision and are taking us to the road to perdition and destruction,” Mohammed stated.
He emphasized the need for impactful national reforms, particularly in tax policy, and vowed to continue speaking out against Federal Government policies that disadvantage Nigerians.
“Nigerians deserve better, and I will not shy away from pointing out these shortcomings,” he affirmed.

Both Suleman and Mohammed underscored the importance of critical thinking and accountability in governance, urging Nigerians to evaluate leadership choices to avoid further hardships.
