Rúben Amorim, a top contender for the Manchester United managerial role, has delivered a strong message to the club’s players, signaling a no-nonsense approach should he take over at Old Trafford.

Speaking candidly in Lisbon amid mounting speculation linking him to the Premier League giants, the Sporting CP manager emphasized accountability, intensity, and transparency as non-negotiables in his footballing philosophy.

“At Manchester United, or any top club, you cannot hide,” Amorim said. “Every player must be fully committed—on the pitch, in training, and in their mentality. If I go there, that will be the standard.”

Amorim’s remarks appear aimed at addressing concerns about inconsistent performances and a lack of cohesion in United’s recent campaigns. With uncertainty still swirling around current manager Erik ten Hag’s future, Amorim has emerged as a leading candidate praised for his tactical innovation and leadership at Sporting.

Known for instilling discipline and building tight-knit squads, Amorim’s words are being seen as both a statement of intent and a warning to underperforming stars at United. “The team must act as one. If you’re not giving everything, you will not play. That’s how I work,” he added.

The 39-year-old has won admirers across Europe for revitalizing Sporting and promoting young talent, and his potential move to England is being viewed as part of a broader rebuild at United aimed at returning the club to its former glory.

With pre-season looming, Manchester United’s board faces a crucial decision in the coming weeks—a choice that could determine the trajectory of the club for years to come.
