Nonwa-Gbam, Rivers State – Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Rivers State Administrator, today implored members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to exhibit unwavering commitment to their host communities. The Administrator’s charge came during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch A Stream II orientation course for Corps Members deployed to Rivers State, held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Ibibia Worika, Vice Admiral Ibas commended the Corps Members for their exemplary discipline and active participation throughout the orientation course. He described their positive conduct as both commendable and heartwarming.

“Always remember that you owe the nation the responsibility to serve selflessly and leave enduring legacies in your host communities and places of Primary Assignment,” the Administrator urged. He further stressed the importance of avoiding actions that could tarnish the NYSC Scheme’s image, encouraging the Corps Members to integrate seamlessly into their host communities and respect local cultures and traditions.

Earlier in the ceremony, the NYSC Rivers State Coordinator, Moses Oleghe, advised the Corps Members to leverage their service year to “explore their passion, develop their skills and gain insights that will shape their future.” Oleghe reiterated that the core essence of the service year is to positively impact the lives of people.

A total of 2,302 Corps Members, comprising 931 males and 1,371 females, successfully completed the orientation exercise in Rivers State
