Convener of the Alternative Movement, Segun Sowunmi, has questioned how Peter Obi intends to implement some of the policies being promoted in his 2027 presidential campaign.

Sowunmi spoke during an appearance on TVC’s Politics on Sunday, where he discussed the presidential race involving Obi, Atiku Abubakar and other political figures.

He focused on Obi’s call for Nigeria to move from consumption to production, asking how the policy would be financed and implemented.

Sowunmi also questioned Obi’s agricultural proposals, particularly those relating to Niger State.

He asked how a government would provide incentives for farmers, meet the financial requirements and achieve the proposed targets within a specified timeframe.

The politician further argued that any president would have to work with the National Assembly and civil service to turn campaign promises into government policy.

Sowunmi also questioned aspects of Obi’s record as Anambra governor, including the former governor’s claims regarding the state’s debt position.

He said successive administrations had challenged some of those claims.

Sowunmi additionally said Obi’s political appeal was partly linked to calls for greater representation and equity for the South-East.

The 2027 presidential election is scheduled for January 16, 2027.
