Worital, a fast-rising Nigerian publishing and media company, recently welcomed 200-level students from the Department of Mass Communication at Lagos State University (LASU) for an immersive academic visit centered on book publishing. The visit formed part of the students’ coursework, designed to bridge theoretical instruction with practical industry experience.
Held at Worital’s Lagos facility, the session provided students with a rare opportunity to observe the inner workings of a professional publishing outfit. The visit began with an interactive engagement between the students and members of the Worital team, where conversations revolved around the journey of a manuscript from idea conception to final production. Students posed insightful questions about editorial processes, content structuring, branding, marketing, and client relations.
The team at Worital carefully walked the students through the company’s operational framework, explaining how different departments collaborate to transform raw ideas into polished publications. From manuscript assessment and copy editing to cover design, layout formatting, and printing coordination, the session emphasized the structured workflow and teamwork required in the publishing ecosystem.
According to the company’s representatives, hosting the students was both fulfilling and inspiring. They commended the LASU students for their curiosity, attentiveness, and keen interest in understanding the future of publishing in Nigeria and beyond.
